We are looking to recruit an effective and experienced senior information analyst who can join an established team and help to develop informatics support into the business.  This is an exciting opportunity to make a mark in a rapidly expanding NHS Foundation Trust.

There are three core aspects to the role:

  • To ensure that the Trust and Divisions have access to the necessary data and information to allow them to make decisions in a timely and effective way.
  • To coordinate the development and use of data, information and performance management systems to support Transformational workstreams.
  • To take responsibility for discrete areas of work, such as developing reports and dashboards using Business Intelligence and reporting systems.

The successful candidate will demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of information systems, as well as technical skills using tools such as SQL, Power BI and Excel to develop the Trust’s data analytics and reporting capability.

You will ideally be familiar with hospital information systems, as well as being able to demonstrate an understanding of a hospital business in the context of the wider healthcare economy.

Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible for discrete areas of work, such as developing dashboards using the Trust’s Business Intelligence and reporting tools.
  • To identify future opportunities for the early recognition of potential issues or problems, business improvements and attaining best practice.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Collecting, collating, analysing and presenting Trust activity data in response to requests for information by various Trust management teams.
  • Prepare and present, timely and accurate information to internal customers and external stakeholders as required.
  • Support the development, maintenance and use of Trust business intelligence tools, including educating end users to enhance maturity across the Trust.
  • Develop reports and analysis using advanced business intelligence tools.Undertake analysis and interpretation of information to ensure that the information provided is appropriate to support service delivery, performance and the clinical governance programmes it is designed to support
  • Interrogate the Trust’s and databases to provide regular reports and ad-hoc analysis as required.
  • Develop and enhance expertise in the effective presentation and analysis of information by the application of new data extraction and query tools.
  • Develop and maintain systems and processes to continually monitor and assure standards, enable root cause analysis, benchmarking, audit, and prepare and implement action plans to improve quality of services.
  • With the support of the senior management team, assist with the review and development of service and workforce plans, in conjunction with other services & Divisions, the wider health care community and external agencies according to current national and local requirements.
  • Ensure that all reporting processes are fully documented, reviewed and audited on a regular basis.
  • Cover for other members of the Information team as required.
  • Supervise the work of members of the Information Department and deputise for Lead Information Analysts and management as required.
  • Act as a role model by demonstrating leadership and expertise, and by maintaining credibility within the Trust, the wider health care community and external agencies, ensuring a positive image of the Trust is maintained.
  • Act as the Trust representative at appropriate meetings and forums, including contributing to discussions, making commitments to deliver work to agreed deadlines and ensuring that other team members are adequately informed.
