Within NHS Tayside we are expanding opportunities for HealthCare Support Workers to develop and progress into the role of an Assistant Practitioner. These are new, exciting and innovative roles supported with education and training from both the NHS Tayside Practice Development Team and Dundee College. Successful applicants will be supported to complete a Professional Development Award SCQF level 8 at Dundee College. The duration of the training period is approximately 1 year.
As an Assistant Practitioner you will be working at the heart of our multidisciplinary teams delivering high quality, patient-centred care, supervised and reporting to a Registered Practitioner. This will require you to be able to communicate effectively with a broad range of individuals, both verbally and in writing, to share our commitment to maintaining high standards in everything we do, and to demonstrate that you can work effectively within a team that behaves in accordance with our values.
We are seeking to recruit people who are committed to delivering outstanding patient care, take pride in what they do and are motivated to learn and develop. A caring, professional manner & excellent communication skills are essential. You must work well in a high pressure environment and have the ability to adapt to changing situations.
Your initial induction program will be followed by a number of professional development opportunities, including clinical skills and ongoing comprehensive online learning hub.
The post holder will be based in Springfield Medical Centre, Arbroath but will integrate with teams across the South Locality and Angus dependent on Service need. The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly to meet the needs of service which will mean rotation of day/evening shifts/base to ensure provision of service over the 24 hour period over 7 days.
A requirement of the post is the ability and willingness to travel across the geographical area of Angus.
Community experience would be an advantage for this post.
You will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.
