Job overview

We are seeking enthusiastic and passionate Senior Health Care Support Workers to join our friendly and supportive team, delivering specialist inpatient care for people with a learning disability across West Yorkshire and Barnsley.

These posts are offered at Agenda for Change Band 3. Applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2 in Care. Training and support will be provided to enable successful candidates to work towards NVQ Level 3, alongside opportunities for ongoing professional development.

Full‑time working is preferred, however part‑time hours may be considered subject to service needs.

We are committed to creating a culture of continuous improvement, inclusivity and trust, and actively encourage applications from individuals who reflect the diversity of the communities we serve.

We promote work–life balance, flexible working arrangements and local recognition awards to celebrate excellent practice. Where possible, we aim to support flexible working options such as job share, part‑time hours or alternative working patterns.

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, including those from ethnic minority communities, individuals able to deliver culturally sensitive care, and people who are disabled, who are currently under‑represented within our workforce. We are proud to be a Disability Confident employer and guarantee an interview to all candidates who meet the essential criteria outlined in the role profile.

Main duties of the job

Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust and South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust have come together to provide a collaborative specialist inpatient service. The post holder will join a multi‑disciplinary team and will be based at either Fieldhead Hospital, Wakefield, or Lynfield Mount Hospital, Bradford. There is an expectation that therapists will actively contribute to service development, training and supervision across both sites.

Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is also part of the governance and assurance group, helping to ensure the effectiveness of the new model for people in Leeds, although the Trust is no longer a provider of inpatient services.

Our ambition is to develop a West Yorkshire Centre of Excellence across these two units, delivering high‑quality, specialist inpatient care through a truly collaborative partnership approach. We are equally committed to making this a great place to work, and to achieving this, we need passionate and dedicated people to join us.

We are seeking kind, enthusiastic, caring, compassionate and motivated individuals who want to make a real difference to people’s lives. You will share our ambition to serve communities across West Yorkshire and Barnsley, ensuring people can access high‑quality, specialised care as close to home as possible.
