The Paediatric Gastroenterology team at Great Ormond Street Hospital are inviting applications for a Clinical Fellow in the Nutrition and Intestinal Failure Rehabilitation subspecialty of the Paediatric Gastroenterology service at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

This is an exciting opportunity for applicants who wish to extend clinical experience by gaining additional subspecialty experience within Paediatric Gastroenterology in the unique and supportive environment of Great Ormond Street Hospital.

In this post, the applicant will be responsible for providing senior middle grade supervision of the Gastroenterology Inpatient and Outpatient service ensuring continuity of care for patients and families as they progress through treatment.

The appointment will initially be for 12 months starting from September 2025 with the possibility thereafter of extension by mutual agreement.

In this post, you will be working as part of a MDT and will be responsible for providing senior middle grade care for both inpatients and outpatients, ensuring continuity of care for patients and families as they progress through treatment.

The successful applicant will be subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks and will be required for an immediate start. There may also be potential scope for possible other ST6 positions later in the year.

Main duties of the job

This is an established post in the Unit of Nutrition and Intestinal Failure Rehabilitation at ST6+ level or equivalent trained Paediatrician. It would also be a suitable role for a post-CCT fellowship. The post is for an initial 12-month period, with an opportunity to extend for a longer period, as part of your job appraisal and review. Many of our fellows stay longer to work in other areas of gastroenterology, or to pursue research. The post provides a unique and exciting opportunity for training in Gastroenterology, in one of the largest units in the UK, with a specific focus in for training in Paediatric Nutrition and Intestinal Failure Rehabilitation with a focus on managing children requiring both inpatient and home parenteral nutrition (PN) and those referred for consideration of small intestinal transplantation. We are a UK recognised training centre in Paediatric Gastroenterology by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH). This is not a HEE recognised post. The post holder will be one of a large multidisciplinary team delivering high quality clinical care to patients with complex enteral nutrition requirements and those with type 2 and 3 intestinal failure. The post holder will be providing care within our specialist gastroenterology ward, and as part of our outreach service to children elsewhere within the hospital, providing continuity for patients and families as they progress through treatment.

You will have full GMC registration with the General Medical Council and NHS experience. MRCPCH part II or equivalent is essential for all ST6 positions.
