Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust as a Senior Datix Analyst in our Quality Governance Team.

As well as managing and supporting the Datix Analyst, you will play a key role in our upcoming transition to a new incident management system and in enhancing our integration with the national Learning from Patient Safety Events (LFPSE) service. Your work will help turn accurate data into meaningful insights, trends, and actions that make a real difference.

We are looking for someone with: •    Significant experience of Datix administration and optimisation. •    Strong analytical and reporting skills, including dashboard development. •    Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to engage all levels of staff. •    A proactive, collaborative approach to problem-solving and improvement.

If you thrive on combining technical expertise with service improvement — and want to make a lasting contribution to patient safety — we would love to hear from you.

Interviews are planned to take place on 21 May 2026.  You will need to be available from 11.00am to 4.00pm on that day.  Due to the nature of the interview, it is unlikely we will offer alternative interview dates.

Main duties of the job

This pivotal role will place you at the heart of our patient safety and governance work, ensuring our incident and risk management system (DatixWeb) is used to its fullest potential. You will be the Trust’s in-house Datix expert, supporting staff across all Divisions and satellite sites, providing high-quality training, and ensuring the accuracy of our data so it drives learning, improvement, and safer care.

The role will lead the transition to the Trust’s next incident management system, following the current tender process, advising on applicability, readiness, and requirements for a smooth and successful implementation.

The Trust has already integrated Datix with the national LFPSE reporting system. The Senior Datix Analyst will be pivotal in enhancing this integration, ensuring it continues to meet organisational needs, and adopting future updates as the national system evolves.

Working as part of the Quality Governance & Risk Team, the post holder will collaborate with Divisions across the Trust and with satellite sites in the local health community, delivering essential data that accurately reflects the Trust’s risk profile.

The role also includes day-to-day system administration and the supervision and development of the Datix Analyst.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This role supports the Trust’s quality improvement and governance agenda by ensuring the Datix system is effectively managed, optimised, and used to improve safety, learning, and performance.
