Job overview

As one of ESNEFTs new Senior Data Conversion Engineers you will play a crucial role in transitioning data from our legacy healthcare systems to Epic’s Electronic Patient Records (EPR) system. Developing into a specialist in Epic, as well as building an in-depth understanding of our legacy systems data structures; you will need a unique blend of technical expertise, healthcare knowledge, and project management skills.

You will:

  • Use your technical SQL skillset to design, develop & execute data conversion plans, including validation testing and troubleshooting processes.
  • Collaborate with clinical, administrative, and IT teams to analyse & map data from legacy systems to Epic EPR, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Troubleshoot & resolve data conversion issues, ensuring data integrity & system stability.
  • Maintain documentation of data conversion processes and protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare data standards and regulations

With experience of healthcare data, particularly in an modularised EPR environment, our ideal candidates will have a strong understanding of database structures, data mapping, ETL processes, SQL & HL7. You should be able to demonstrate excellent analytical & problem-solving skills alongside the ability to communicate effectively with both technical & non-technical stakeholders. Project management experience & the ability to multitask are also advantageous.

Main duties of the job

  • You will responsible for working with Clinical and Business Informaticists, and Implementation specialists to capture data conversion requirements and bespoke change requests for projects
  • Write ETL (extract, transform, load) SQL scripts and code to ensure the ETL process performs optimally.
  • Develop business intelligence reports that can be reused.
  • You will build accessible data for analysis.
  • You will provide maintenance, configuration and monitoring of the legacy and target system’s data.
  • Maintenance, configuration and monitoring of integrated data solutions between Trust business systems and applications.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring developments are aligned to the overall Digital and Logistics and Trust strategies and suggesting alternative approaches where require.

Please note this is a site based role -  you will either be based at IP-City Centre  or Colchester Hospital.
