Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated clinical technologist to join a large Nuclear Medicine department. The senior clinical technologist will work with other technologists, clinical scientists, clinicians, nursing and admin staff to perform a wide range of clinical work, to include both imaging and non-imaging studies. The post will suit someone with good communication and team working skills, who is able to uphold the high standards of the department.

Applications are welcomed from radiographers with post graduate qualifications and experience in Nuclear Medicine and consideration will be given to apprentice clinical technologists currently in their final year of studies (training post will be offered at a lower salary than advertised).

Main duties of the job

To undertake a variety of nuclear medicine diagnostic tests, which includes imaging and non-imaging procedures.  This will include the dispensing/administration of radiopharmaceuticals, image acquisition and processing along with the appropriate documentation of all aspects of the job.

The post holder will be required to work closely with other technologists under the direction of the chief technologist and operational lead technologists. They will be expected to supervise and train junior team members, including apprentices as appropriate. The department offers a broad range of diagnostic tests and sees patients from across the West Midlands.

The Nuclear Medicine department at the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital is staffed by a friendly team of technologists, clinical scientists, clinicians and support staff. The department performs a variety of nuclear medicine procedures including both imaging and non-imaging procedures, as well as therapy treatments for thyrotoxicosis and synovitis. Staff are encouraged to partake in research and present work at national conferences if desired. The department is proactive in training, developing, and supporting staff to reach their potential.
