The Royal Stoke Emergency Department is currently undergoing a dynamic and positive phase of development and transformation. As part of this exciting journey, we are seeking to recruit enthusiastic and dedicated Band 3 Clinical Support Workers to join our substantive Emergency Department team.

Our workforce model is centred on delivering safe and effective patient care, while also fostering leadership and supporting the ongoing development of our nursing team. Successful candidates will benefit from a period of supernumerary status and receive comprehensive on-the-job training, delivered by a dedicated and experienced team.

We welcome applications for both full-time and part-time positions. Please note that the role requires flexibility to work a variety of shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and nights.

Main duties of the job

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide essential clinical care to patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.

You will be expected to carry out a range of delegated clinical duties, applying and further developing the skills required within the clinical setting. These duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Recording patient observations
  • Performing ECG monitoring
  • Conducting urinalysis and pregnancy testing
  • Undertaking bladder scanning
  • Performing venepuncture (training will be provided)

Accurate, timely, and comprehensive documentation of all clinical activities is essential. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of record-keeping within the nursing documentation.

Excellent communication skills are vital, as the role involves working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and communicating effectively with patients and their families.

Essential Requirements

All applicants must be able to demonstrate, at interview, that they have achieved GCSEs in English and Mathematics at grade C or above (or equivalent). In addition, possession of the Care Certificate is required.
