Job overview

The post is based in the Imperial College Children’s Clinical Research Facility at the St Mary’s Hospital. The Trust Fellowship is 100% clinical research and the post holder will work within the paediatric allergy research team. They will primarily being overseeing delivery of two food immunotherapy trials across children and adults. Additionally, they will support studies focused on food allergy being undertaken within the research group. The post will require knowledge and experience of conduct of clinical trials but will also provide valuable training in research governance and regulation. It is a valuable opportunity for those interested in developing skills and experience in food immunotherapy for IgE mediated food allergy and further experience in co-morbid allergic disease management.

Main duties of the job

The fellow will divide his/her time between clinical research trial delivery, supervision of the research team delivering the trials and trial governance for the said studies. These roles will be delivered on the research unit. There will be a degree of flexibility to accommodate the successful candidate’s preferences and interest.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To work under the direction of Professor Paul Turner and Dr Nandinee Patel to support the full range of trial delivery in several food allergy and food immunotherapy randomised clinical trials being undertaken at St Mary’s Hospital evaluating new approaches to the diagnosis and management of food allergy in children. The Fellow will also support other research activities within the Children’s Clinical Research Facility at Imperial’s Academic Health Science Centre.

Key Responsibilities

Academic / Research Duties and Responsibilities

  • Undertake delivery of clinical research on the BOPI-2 peanut immunotherapy and NATASHA studies
  • Support delivery of other clinical research and clinical trials under the direction of Prof Turner.
  • maintain accurate and accessible research records
  • lead and participate in research meetings

Management

  • The post holder will be responsible for accurate record keeping and documentation of results, and for preparing research reports
  • To support junior research team members in the research delivery team to deliver the trial protocol and develop research skills.

Other Responsibilities:

  • To undertake appropriate administrative tasks.
  • To undertake any necessary training and/or development to support delivery of their role.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post as directed by line manager
  • To carry out teaching duties within the research team.
