We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join a new psychological therapy team at the forefront of innovative community mental health practice.

The Core Community Mental Health service will be an integrated mental health service with colleagues from Primary Care, Secondary Care, Local Authority and Voluntary Sector working alongside one another to deliver a holistic and person-centred approach to mental health difficulties under the national Community Mental Health Transformation programme and the local Healthy Minds programme.

The Senior Clinical Psychologist will provide individual and/or group therapy but will also act as  an integral team member, working with colleagues across other sectors to ensure increased and equitable access to psychological approaches for our diverse communities across the Bradford Districts and Craven. The post will include leadership functions, including supervision/oversight of Assistant Psychologists and clinical leadership of a designated service area.

Clinical work will involve working with a range of presenting problems but typically with individuals whose experience of trauma is causing distress and impacting on quality of life.

Main duties of the job

 Provide specialist evidence based psychological assessment, formulation & therapy, making autonomous clinical decisions about own professional practice.

 Provide clinical leadership, supervision, consultation and advice on psychological therapies.

 Provide clinical consultation and advice to healthcare professionals across all localities.

 Support adherence to relevant NICE guidance and clinical governance arrangements.

 To ensure the clinical effectiveness of own practice and of service functioning by undertaking research and development activities relevant to the service area.

 Work with the Team/Clinical Manager on service development, leading research and development activities.

In addition to a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, an existing qualification  in one of the nationally recommended therapies (including CBT, EMDR, DBT, MBT and CAT) would be advantageous but not essential. Those with an interest in Community Psychology would particularly be suited to this post.

The service is underpinned by principles of cultural sensitivity and trauma informed and neurodivergent affirming care and engages in iterative development cycles to ensure continuous improvement. Flexibility and adaptability are key attributes for this post.

We are happy to consider applications from trainees qualifying this year. This job can be offered on a preceptorship from band 7 to band 8a for newly qualified applicants
