An exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic independent prescribing pharmacist to join the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine’s Insomnia and Behavioural Sleep Medicine and Pharmacy teams at Queen Square. The pharmacist will be involved in integrating the pharmacological and behavioural treatments of sleep disorders and all the relevant training will be provided. The post holder will work in the largest Insomnia treatment clinic in the United Kingdom, will participate in expanding the capacity of the clinic and will be at the forefront of a growing field of medicine. The clinic treats complex patients, who need to start, change or be weaned off specialist medications. As GPs are often unfamiliar with the medications or the way they are used in sleep disorders, they are often not able to supervise or monitor changes in these medications. The specialist pharmacist will work directly with patients and provide support and advice to their GPs in order to improve and streamline the management of their medication and coordinate their medical treatment with the behavioural interventions.
The RLHIM is a unique hospital that integrates a wide variety of medical, psychological and physical therapies to treat a number of complex, chronic medical conditions. Our aim is to provide a person-centred, holistic approach, including self-care, lifestyle strategies, medical, physical and psychological treatments, as well as advice on safe and appropriate use of complementary therapies and medicines. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a pioneering hospital which is expanding and developing new areas in research, service development and education
