Applications are invited for a Senior Clinical Fellow Post (1.0 WTE) available immediately, until Aug 2026 in the first instance.  The vacancy has arisen due to a post holder being on a career break leave.

Our St George’s Higher Specialist Training Scheme in Psychiatry of Learning Disability has 5 approved posts covering the SW London boroughs of:

  • Sutton, Merton & Wandsworth (3 posts in total, with SW London & St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust)
  • Kingston & Richmond (2 posts, with Your Healthcare)

We also have 3 approved CT1-3 posts in Psychiatry of LD across our St George’s / SW London region.

The Senior Clinical Fellow post holder will have access to protected formal training academic programmes and other personal development opportunities.  The post is full-time, and may include opportunities to be on one of the Trust’s SW London & St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust on-call rotas (dependent on level of training +/- having Sec 12 approval status).

Main duties of the job

The post(s) offers excellent opportunities to develop enhanced competencies in dealing with people with mild to profound learning disabilities, presenting with the full range of mental health problems and/or challenging behaviours, including:-

  • the care programme approach (CPA).
  • neuropsychiatry (including epilepsy)
  • neurodevelopmental disorders (including autism +/- ADHD)
  • psychopharmacology
  • psychosocial managements
  • liaison with other health and social care professionals.
  • facilitating access to mainstream mental health services.
  • working with service users and other partners to develop services in line with local needs and national policy.

All of our post(s) are community-based, and would be suitable for those wishing to pursue a future specialist registrar (ST4-6) or specialty doctor training path in any community-based psychiatric specialty (including learning disability, general / old age psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, forensic psychiatry, or CAMHS).
