Nottingham Children’s Hospital has 116 acute beds and a stand-alone Paediatric Emergency Department, forming part of the Nottingham Major Trauma Centre. One Fellowship position in Paediatric Anaesthesia is available from February 2026 for a period of 12 months.
The exciting opportunity is designed for those wishing to pursue a career as a specialist paediatric anaesthetist, and fulfils all the criteria described in the Royal College of Anaesthetist 2010 curriculum. Applicants may be pre or post CCT, must hold FRCA or equivalent, and should have already completed their higher level training in paediatric anaesthesia.
Approximately 10,000 paediatric surgical procedures are carried out each year at NUH, including emergency work. There is a significant neonatal surgery workload and NUH is a tertiary referral centre for neurosurgery, paediatric oncology and radiotherapy, paediatric urology and renal transplantation, spinal surgery and cleft lip and palate surgery. There is also a large ENT, emergency, general and plastic surgery workload. The NUH Major Trauma Centre is one of the busiest in the country, with a significant number of paediatric major trauma cases.
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to experience all the sub-speciality areas during their placement, with the option to choose areas of specific interest for further development as experience develops.
