Job overview

Interviews date to be determined

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full-time fixed term Senior Clinical Fellow to join our Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery team at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.

We are looking for dynamic team players who wish to gain additional clinical or research experience in OMFS to either prepare them for specialty training or provide them with subspecialty experience prior to taking up a consultant post.

UHCW is one of the leading teaching hospitals in the UK, equipped with state-of-the-art technology and facilities. It is home to Warwick Medical School, providing wide-ranging opportunities to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research.

N.B. We reserve the right to close a vacancy before the closing date if we receive a high volume of applications or if there has been a change in organisational priorities.

Main duties of the job

The majority of the successful candidate's clinical sessions will be at UHCW but may include some out-patient clinical activity at either the Hospital of St Cross, Rugby, Warwick Hospital or George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton. Clinical duties and responsibilities also include:

  • Working with other members of the Maxillofacial team to provide a comprehensive surgical service to the Trust, Primary Care Trusts and General Practitioners.
  • Participating in the Maxillofacial second on-call rota to ensure that appropriate emergency services are provided out-of-normal working hours.
  • Providing a consultation and advisory service to clinical colleagues in other specialties within the Trust and Primary Care when on-call.
  • Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with medical colleagues in other specialties and participating in regular clinical meetings and other post graduate activities.
  • Participating in the professional supervision and development of trainee doctors within the specialty.
  • Demonstrating a firm understanding in Clinical Governance, Risk Management and Clinical Audit.
