Job overview

Within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department at the QE Hospital, Gateshead an opportunity has arisen for two full time Senior Clinical Fellow posts (equivalent to Registrar) commencing as soon as possible. The post is for 12 months and offers excellent clinical experience in a full range of Obstetric and Gynaecology services within a supportive team. Although this post cannot be counted towards specialist training requirements, the post holder will have the same access to clinical & educational supervision, study leave and other learning opportunities as is available to approved training post holders in the department.

Main duties of the job

This is a temporary tier 2 doctor post within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead. The post is for twelve months to start as soon as possible. The post will consist of a full range of tier 2 medical duties, including on call shifts.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post offers a wide exposure to general Obstetrics and Gynaecology as well as the opportunity to develop skills in subspecialty areas including urogynaecology, assisted reproduction, minimal access surgery, maternal medicine and high risk obstetrics. All general clinics and theatre sessions are supervised directly by consultants.

The successful candidate will take part in a full shift rota, with 7 other trainees on the tier two rota. When on call you will be supported by a tier one doctor on site and a consultant from home. Nights are done in 3 night or 4 night batches with no daytime duties.
