This post is 12 month fixed term post to cover an average 48 hours per week. This includes the elective and emergency duties in a shift system roster.  There is potentially scope to extend the contract beyond the twelve months.  Part-time applications will also be considered.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Clinical Fellow will operate within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team, supported by a senior workforce comprising registrars, Specialty and Associate Specialist (SAS) doctors, and consultants. The role will be situated within the Directorate of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, with the post holder reporting directly to a designated supervisory consultant. In exceptional cases, the post holder may be required to undertake additional duties in response to emergencies or unforeseen circumstances.

Applicants must have successfully completed Foundation Training and possess prior clinical experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Clinical responsibilities are comparable to those assigned to CT3-5 grades. Obstetric duties encompass dedicated labour ward sessions, management of Obstetric Triage, participation in antenatal clinics, provision of postnatal ward coverage, and assistance during Caesarean sections, both elective and emergency. Gynaecological responsibilities include on-call duties, coverage of the Early Pregnancy Unit, ward management, attendance at outpatient clinics, and assistance in the operating theatre.
