The post is 50% Rheumatology and 50% General Internal Medicine including weekends and nightshifts on a 1 in 17 rolling rota.

The appointee will be an enthusiastic doctor, who will complement the existing skills/interests of the department.  A commitment to providing the best possible care to general medical and Rheumatology patients, and to working with colleagues to develop improved systems for their management is essential.  A proven ability to work effectively with existing colleagues is of the utmost importance.

Main duties of the job

The post is 50% Rheumatology and 50% General Internal Medicine for inpatient and outpatient care, including weekends and nightshifts on a 1 in 17 rolling rota.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This post has become available due to a training gap in the ST training programme, and as such, your opportunities will mirror those of a trainee within the department and hospital. You will be allocated a consultant supervisor to support your career development. You will be encouraged to grow as a clinician and participate in governance including mortality reviews, QIPs, departmental and trust-wide educational activities.

GIM and Rheumatology Inpatients are accommodated on general medical wards. The wards are supported by other resident medical doctors and a full MDT, and the appointee will be providing flexible support to this team.
