Applications are invited for a fixed term full-time appointment to work alongside ST3+ medical and clinical oncology trainees providing acute oncology, outpatient and inpatient oncology services at NNUH. This post is to start as soon as possible, ending on 4th August 2026.

This post is ideally suited for someone who wishes to pursue a future career in Oncology or to explore the option of oncology as a potential career choice.

This post offers a varied work pattern, with duties including cover for:

Main duties of the job

The Acute Oncology Service (AOS) AOS provides a 24/7 point of contact for all patients under the care of the Oncology Department at the NNUH. In-hours, medical cover of the service will be the priority of this post, as well as offering advice to other speciality colleagues and GPs in the community with support from on-call consultants.

Weybourne Day Unit/Radiotherapy The Weybourne Day Unit (WDU) is where the majority of systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) takes place at the NNUH. This post will be part of the medical cover for WDU offering advice to senior nursing staff, pre-assessment of patients attending for treatment with acute problems as well as cover for emergencies (e.g. reactions and extravasation).

Middle-grade on call rota Ward support for Tier 1 colleagues as well as help with the management of acutely deteriorating inpatients is provided by the on-call consultant and a middle grade doctor. The post holder participates in a 1 in 7 weekend on call rota with the other ST3+ fellows and trainees.  Clinics, teaching and further development Where staffing allows this position will contain protected time to attend consultant-led outpatient clinics to gain experience and competence in the management of oncology outpatients. You will be encouraged to take part in quality improvement projects (with our audit and research leads) as well as experience radiotherapy planning.
