Job overview

The department is seeking to appoint 2 x Senior Clinical Fellows a in Obstetrics & Gynaecology with the following specialties:  GAU, Maternal Medicine and Intrapartum.   The posts are available to commence as soon as possible and are fixed-term for a period of 12 months. The posts have been developed both to support existing service vacancies and to provide additional medical staffing capacity while the department undertakes rota planning in preparation for future expansion. There may be the opportunity for candidates to apply for longer-term posts arising from this service development.

Main duties of the job

The weekly timetable will include a predominantly fixed job plan, with duties across obstetric and gynaecology services, including clinics, delivery suite, ward rounds, acute and emergency care, and theatre activity as appropriate to service needs and individual experience. There will be opportunities to gain experience across the breadth of general obstetrics and gynaecology in a major teaching hospital environment.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Hours of work are full time with on-call commitments on the ST6-8 rota of 1 in 11 including out of hours on-call. A delivery suite duty is 3rd on-call. The Trust provides 108 hours of consultant presence on Delivery Suite, offering excellent opportunities for direct supervision, support and training. The successful candidate will be expected to be aware of local guidelines, policies and procedures and to comply with the Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions of the Trust.
