Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals offer an exciting opportunity for a Fellowship in General Cardiology. This post is suitable for someone who wishes to obtain advanced training in Cardiology. The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to both the inpatient and outpatient care of patients, on a full time basis, as part of a multidisciplinary team. The post will run for 6 months and possibility for extension.
Depending on the candidates preferences, there will also be opportunities for experience in advanced imaging (cardiac MRI and CT, advanced echo and nuclear imaging).
If suitably trained, the candidate will be offered the option to join the general cardiology SpR on call rota alongside 15 other SpRs.
As an organisation we are committed to developing our services in ways that best suit the needs of our patients. This means that some staff groups will increasingly be asked to work a more flexible shift pattern so that we can offer services in the evenings or at weekends.
There will be additional responsibilities in assisting in the provision of inpatient and outpatient care for our heart failure patients. The post-holder will take part in relevant outpatient clinics per week with appropriate consultant supervision and support. The post-holder will contribute to looking after patients on the wards and seeing referrals.
Alternatively, this time could be used for the development of an audit or research project.
Other roles may be required or developed as appropriate to the post-holder and clinical service. This is envisaged as an excellent opportunity to gain experience that will assist in furthering a career in heart failure, either towards a subsequent application for a consultant post in cardiology with special interests in heart failure or for applications for SpR training.
