Job Summary

We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic clinicians to join our dynamic Heart Division. Two Senior Clinical Fellow positions are available, offering excellent opportunities for specialist development, hands-on clinical exposure, and contribution to service improvement within a high-performing cardiology department.

JOB 1) Senior Clinical Fellow in Heart Failure

The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary Heart Failure Team, including consultant cardiologists, specialist heart failure nurses and existing specialty registrars. The role provides broad and substantive experience across the full spectrum of heart failure care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Active involvement in the assessment and ongoing management of patients in both inpatient and outpatient heart failure services
  • Participation in general cardiology on-call duties, providing senior clinical support and decision-making
  • Contributing to MDT heart failure meetings, complex case discussions, and care-planning
  • Supporting the optimisation of medical therapy, advanced heart failure pathways, and device therapy referrals
  • Opportunities to undertake clinical research, audit projects, quality-improvement initiatives, and teaching of junior doctors and medical students

This role is ideal for clinicians preparing for specialist cardiology training or seeking to consolidate advanced experience in heart failure management.

JOB 2)  Senior Clinical Fellow in Cardiology (with an Interest in Heart Failure)

This post is designed for candidates who wish to broaden their experience in general cardiology while developing a focused interest in heart failure.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Participation in general cardiology inpatient and outpatient services, including diagnostic and acute cardiology pathways
  • Involvement in heart failure clinics and ward-based reviews under the supervision of the heart failure team
  • Exposure to heart failure diagnostics, including echocardiography interpretation, device therapies, and advanced treatment options
  • Contribution to the cardiology on-call rota
  • Engagement in departmental teaching, audit, research, and quality-improvement activities

This role would suit clinicians aiming to enhance their overall cardiology skills while gaining structured experience in heart failure, with potential for future subspecialty focus.
