Applications are invited for a Senior Clinical Fellow in Acute Ophthalmology for a twelve month post commencing August 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Ophthalmologist to broaden their training in management of acute ophthalmology conditions and cataract surgery.

As well as working with the consultant team in the acute eye service and clinic, this fellowship offers training in cataract surgery.  The candidate should have good knowledge of general ophthalmology and the management of acute ophthalmic conditions; with a high level of competence in cataract surgery and emergency eye service being desirable. As a department we are keen to develop our clinicians, encouraging their own professional development and goals.

Main duties of the job

The clinical fellow will help support the busy acute eye service and subspecialty clinics; working with the clinical leads to ensure patients referred to our services receive excellent care and treatment. The successful candidate will obtain training in the assessment, diagnosis and  management of these patients  as well training in cataract surgery.

The successful candidate is expected to participate in all the other on-going activities of the department including audit, research projects and to attend departmental meetings and teaching sessions.
