The successful candidate will also be encouraged to attend general and sub-specialty gastroenterology clinics, in order to gain further experience in the specialty.

This post is suitable for a trainee with IMT experience who wishes to gain more experience in Gastroenterology and would provide excellent preparation for a candidate considering an application for Gastroenterology specialty training. We are keen to support candidates to develop their portfolio and there will be an opportunity to undertake educational, academic or quality improvement projects whilst in post.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will join our team to provide an integrated digestive diseases service across the Salisbury area.

Gastroenterology patients are treated on a dedicated gastroenterology ward – Redlynch Ward, with general medical patients being cared for by a general medical consultant.  We also have access to an infusion unit, Stour day unit. We have a fantastic thriving hepatology service with Hepatology and alcohol CNS support.  We have an IBD team involving specialist input from Southampton, specialist gastroenterology radiologists, biologics service, close relationships with IBD surgeons as part of GI unit, CNS support.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop skills and provide teaching for junior doctors in the department.
