Job overview

We are looking for doctors with at least four year's postgraduate experience, who have worked in Acute, General, Emergency Medicine or other acute medical specialties, to join our Trust as Senior Clinical Fellows at ST 3+ level with a commitment to the General Medical on-call rota. We are offering permanent or fixed term posts at the preference of suitable candidates.

These posts would suit doctors who are considering a career in Medicine and will provide wide experience in the Medical Specialty of their choosing (ie Acute , Frailty, Respiratory, Cardiology or Diabetes and Endocrinology), with a broad experience in General Medicine.

The posts will be based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich, which has the busiest Emergency Department in South East London, serving a very diverse population, with a resultant relatively high incidence of uncommon conditions in the UK, such as Malaria and Sickle Cell Disease.

Successful candidates will join a dynamic emergency workforce treating a wide spectrum of acute and emergency medicine presentations. This is a great opportunity to broaden your experience while working in a very friendly and supportive environment.

There is a strong training culture with academic time and regular weekly training incorporating lecture-room teaching and clinical supervision and attendance at relevant clinics.

Main duties of the job

These posts are in addition to our existing establishment of 19 middle grade level doctors within the Medical Division at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The current middle grade establishments consists of 5 IMT3s, 11 Deanery ST4 + in various specialties and 3 Trust Senior Clinical Fellows (1 in Frailty and 2 in Gastroenterology).

The current general medical on-call cover consists of 2 registrars 0800-2100 daily and overnight 2000-0900.

When not on-call there is flexibility in which specialty each post can be based in with at least 4 months done in Acute Medicine.

We have opportunities in Cardiology, Respiratory, Frailty, Acute Medicine and Diabetes and Endocrinology. We can therefore accommodate the preferences of any potential applicant, and offer registrar level training in any of these specialties subject to availability.

Posts can be offered on either a substantive or fixed term basis for at least a year, dependent on the wishes of the applicants.
