Job overview

Join us at Eastbourne – the Sunshine Coast.

Home to some of Sussex’s finest coastline and countryside, we are seeking an enthusiastic Band 6 Cath Lab / General Radiographer to join our expanding team at Eastbourne District General Hospital.

Eastbourne is a vibrant seaside town serving a large and diverse catchment area, with excellent transport links—just 45 minutes to Brighton and 1.5 hours to London by train.

Our Imaging Department provides a wide range of services including General Radiography, A&E, Fluoroscopy and Theatre imaging. This post includes dedicated sessions within our busy Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory, supporting diagnostic angiography, pacemaker and device implantation, PCI, and a variety of interventional cardiac procedures. Rotation to other imaging modalities may also be available to support professional development.

Our Cath Lab and Radiology Departments are equipped with modern, high‑quality imaging technology, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment for both patients and staff.

This is an exciting opportunity for a radiographer with strong clinical standards, excellent communication skills and a passion for high‑quality patient care. Previous Cath Lab experience or experience within East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is desirable but not essential.

Main duties of the job

Shift duties to provide a comprehensive 24 hour, 365 day a year service in Trauma and General Radiography are an essential part of this role. You should be able to work a variety of shifts in order to meet this commitment together with out of hours working. This includes covering both daytime shifts in the Cath lab as well as participating in the on call rota. Experience with Philips and GE Cath lab equipment is essential.

Additional duties include supervision of junior staff, clinical audit, vetting and justification overview, as well as being an independent practitioner.

As part of our commitment to CPD, the successful candidate will have opportunities to broaden their skills across imaging areas and further develop specialist knowledge within cardiac imaging.

We are also a training centre for student radiographers, and you will be encouraged to take an active role in mentoring and supporting learners while maintaining professional standards at all times.

The department actively supports internal training in speciality modalities to include Cardiac and Interventional Radiography, CT scanning. External training is supported in Medical Ultrasound, Radiographer reporting and Mammography.

We have permanent roles available.
