Position: Senior Biomedical Scientist

Location: St Marys Hospital, with close links to Queen Alexandra Hospital

Working Hours:37.5 hours per week, Monday Friday, 8 am 4 pm (flexibility required)

Patient-Facing Opportunities

  • Direct Impact: Work closely with clinicians during Mohs procedures, preparing, inking, orientating, staining, and cutting frozen tissue samples to assist in the diagnosis and mapping of skin tumours.
  • Intraoperative Involvement: Be present in the operating room, providing real-time support and ensuring accurate results for our patients.

Main duties of the job

Training and Development

  • Mohs service development: Train and supervise other Biomedical Scientists in highly specialised Mohs technique
  • Mentorship Role: Maintain a link to the Cellular Pathology department on the Queen Alexandra site, helping to train and supervise Specialist Biomedical Scientists, Associate Practitioners, and Medical Laboratory Assistants, sharing your expertise and fostering their growth.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay at the forefront of advances in Cellular Pathology and Mohs techniques, with access to a wide variety of training and development opportunities.
  • Opportunities for All: While we are looking for someone with the required skills, we may consider candidates with limited or no prior Mohs training who demonstrate a strong passion and willingness to learn.
