We are looking for an experienced Audiologists to join our busy and friendly Audiology service here in Bedfordshire.  You will be working at a senior level predominantly in the adult audiology service at one of our two provider sites, either Bedford Hospital or the Luton & Dunstable Hospital. Main responsibilities include hearing assessments and associated rehabilitation for our adult patients, including patients with severe-profound-complex needs, and audiology cover to ENT out-patient clinics, where you’ll see both Adult and Paediatric patients.  You will enjoy teaching and coaching as you will be an important contributor to our training programme for Audiology trainees. You will be an excellent communicator, with strong patient focus, and a value set consistent with our Trust’s values and behaviour framework.

The post holder will participate in the provision of a comprehensive diagnostic audiology service and hearing rehabilitative service, working at a senior level. The post holder will participate in the diagnostic audiology service, including provision of audiology cover to ENT clinics (testing Paediatric and Adult patients) as well as in the adult rehabilitation service including management of complex patients. The post holder will also participate in the department’s training programme for students

  • To provide Audiology cover to ENT OPD clinics (testing Paediatric and Adult patients) including masked air and bone conduction audiometry, tympanometry, acoustic reflex testing and otoacoustic emission testing.  To discuss results with patients and their family/carers.
  • To participate in the provision of a diagnostic audiology service to include performance analysis, interpretation and reporting of routine test procedures and complex test procedures under indirect supervision.
  • To arrange hearing aids for ENT OPD patients as required, including initial assessment, consent, preliminary counselling, and information/test data entry into PMS.
  • To participate in the adult hearing aid and aural rehabilitation service, including the direct GP referral service for patients age 18 years and over. To take responsibility for and manage routine patient pathways and complex patient pathways under indirect supervision.  To include:
  • Appropriate assessment and comprehensive history taking tailored to individual patient needs.
