As part of the Digital Healthcare team, Applications have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Senior Applications Specialist on a fixed term basis. The successful applicant will be part of a team who are responsible for the delivery and maintenance of corporate and clinical applications to support safe and effective patient care whilst delivering the digital strategy.

We are looking for someone who has expert knowledge of the applications used in the Trust and has the ability to lead the design and planning of system improvements and new implementations, as well as leading and guiding colleagues in the team. High level planning and coordination skills are essential to ensure deadlines are successfully achieved, as well as working closely with Applications Specialists in planning improvement work and operational tasks such as incident management, request fulfilment, monitoring, change and release management and decommissioning. Being able to communicate effectively with users and suppliers is an essential part of this role.

This is a busy role so we are looking for someone who is highly organised, motivated and proactive and can cope under pressure to help us to deliver an excellent service.

Main duties of the job

As part of the Digital Healthcare team, Applications are responsible for the delivery and maintenance of corporate and clinical applications to support safe and effective patient care whilst delivering the digital strategy. This role involves:

  • Management of the full lifecycle of applications, from design and implementation to decommissioning for technical and configuration elements
  • Design and quality assurance for application configuration and delivery mechanisms
  • Application testing including technical and functional elements
  • Maintenance including upgrades and patching
  • Escalation point and advanced incident management and request fulfilment
  • Managing, scoping and delivering projects and significant pieces of work, including resourcing

The post holder will have expert knowledge of the applications used in the Trust and a practical understanding of the tools used for their delivery. To achieve maximum potential and benefits from applications, a comprehensive working knowledge of the Trust and services within is essential. The Senior Specialist will lead the design and planning of changes and new implementations. Using their expertise and skills they will be a key point of contact and lead the Trust services through application changes and service improvement, committed to deliver customer excellence.
