Job overview

We are seeking a motivated salaried General Practitioners (GP) with an interest in Acute Medicine to join our team and support delivery of our Multi Agency Telephone Coordination (MATCH) service - a bespoke, single point of access team based at our Wigton Community Hospital.

The post holder will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, safe, and patient-centred care and advice through our MATCH service, working as our lead  medical Clinician in the HUB  as part of the wider MATCH MDT.

As a salaried GP in Acute Medicine, the post holder work closely with a skilled multidisciplinary team, including advanced clinical practitioners, nurses, ICC colleagues and external partners, such as NWAS, to deliver clinical advice and guidance  for a broad range of urgent but non-life-threatening medical conditions.

The post holder will be expected to actively join in teaching and training of wider clinical staff groups and to join in audit activity, as well as providing clinical leadership to the MATCH service. There will also be opportunities to work clinically within our Acute medical admission and SDEC units and the post holder will be seen as a valuable member of the wider clinical workforce.

The post holder’s clinical expertise and leadership will ensure patients receive timely assessment, treatment, and clear onward care pathways from all referring partners.

  • Provide expert clinical care, advice and guidance within our MATCH HUB to supporting safe and effective care delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to optimise patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to direct clinical care within our Acute medical areas.
  • Play an active role in the wider unplanned care programme, including departmental meetings, multidisciplinary discussions, teaching sessions, and audit reviews.
  • Take part in audit and quality improvement activity, supporting evidence-based practice and service development.
