Cardiff and Vale University Health Board seeks to recruit highly motivated Salaried General Practitioners (GPs) who will be part of the multi-professional team delivering high quality, compassionate care to the people of Cardiff and South Wales at our Emergency Unit, University Hospital Wales, Cardiff.
This is an opportunity to join the Emergency Medicine department as part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes Consultants, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacists and experienced and well-established nursing and administrative teams.
The post holder will engage with the Clinical Director and other members of the team to support the provision of safe, appropriate clinical care. The Salaried GP role will provide direct clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment to patients, including all aspects of urgent and routine presentations with escalation of care and referral on to other services as determined by priority and severity.
We are seeking passionate staff dedicated to delivering the service within the Emergency Unit and offer a variety of clinical sessions with opportunities for flexible/part-time working covering the following sessions:
Monday 14:00 – 22:00
Wednesday 14:00 – 22:00
Saturday 14:00 – 22:00
Sunday 14:00 – 22:00
The primary duties of the post are to provide GP consultations to patients including diagnosis, treatment and referrals, prescribing in line with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board Medicines Management guidelines health education as appropriate, administrative duties associated with the care of patients and maintenance of accurate patient records using paper and electronic systems used in the service.
This post sits within the Emergency Medicine Department which forms part of Medicine Clinical Board. The post holder will be professionally accountable to the Medical Director and managerially accountable to the Clinical Director for Emergency Medicine and Medicine Clinical Board Director.
