Are you looking to grow your foundation skills working with adults across a range of settings and specialties?

At Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, the Speech and Language Therapy Service is excited to recruit an additional band 5 therapist into our rotational structure in order to support us to continue our delivery of high quality patient care.

In our team, we focus on:

  • Setting our goals around what matters to the patient
  • Identifying  vulnerable patients  early on for intervention
  • Being  visible and integrated within our MDTs

Our core band 5 rotations are each 6 months long and focus on:

  • Hospital inpatients and ENT voice outpatients
  • Stroke rehabilitation pathway (HASU to ICSS)
  • Community and care homes

Main duties of the job

Experience working with an adult  caseload and robust undergraduate knowledge and experience with a range of acquired communication, voice and swallowing disorders will be essential. A successful candidate will be joining an SLT team with a strong commitment to integrated working and quality improvement. There will be excellent support as well as a robust supervision and appraisal system. You will have the opportunity to work alongside highly specialist staff and integrate into a variety of specialist multi-disciplinary teams across a range of clinical settings.

A car driver with access to a vehicle is essential to meeting the travel requirements of working in a community setting.

The trust provides a range of 7-day services, involving our Speech and Language Therapists. Post-holders will be required to participate in these services when an appropriate level of clinical competence has been achieved.
