Job overview

Are you an experienced Exercise/ Therapy Instructor looking for a new challenge or wishing to further develop your skills and knowledge? Do you have a keen interest in the assessment and progression of respiratory patients?

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated part time Band 4 Exercise/ Therapy Instructor to join the Restart Team at Northampton General Hospital, part of the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire group.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of the Restart team of clinical specialist nurses, Physiotherapists and Support staff, and you will be supported by the qualified staff in the role and encouraged to develop your knowledge and skills.

Ideally you will already have qualifications in exercise rehabilitation/ exercise referral and be working towards the Wright Foundation level 4 Pulmonary Rehabilitation certificate, but we will support this process. You will need to achieve these qualifications within 18 months of starting the post. You will need to hold a current UK driving license and be able to travel between the venues we deliver rehabilitation.

This is an established role which has the aim of delivering Pulmonary Rehabilitation across the West Northamptonshire area. The post involves working alongside qualified staff to manage a waiting list; conduct telephone and face to face assessments for Pulmonary rehabilitation; deliver Pulmonary Rehabilitation exercise and education courses in local community centres; deliver Pulmonary Rehabilitation using remote tools; maintain paperwork and audit data.

We have close working links within the ICB System Respiratory group with an aim of delivering Pulmonary Rehabilitation to National Accreditation Standards.  We also pride ourselves with our links to community groups such as the Trilogy Leisure centres, the health and Wellbeing practitioner service, and the Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis and Breathing Space support groups.
