Communication -- ability to demonstrate excellent customer care skills, greeting patients visiting the Heart & Lung Department according to trust values, assisting flow through the department. To ensure that patients and visitors receive a friendly and professional service, always demonstrate patient confidentiality. Contribute to departmental discussions and work towards Directorate and Trust objectives, participate in service and cost improvement programmes.
Administrative -- demonstrate planning, good organisational and prioritising skills, assist with elements of local induction for new starters. Day to day diary management using departmental computer programmes, deal with internal and external correspondence, coordinate patient activity through the department, liaise with physiologists, clinic, ward areas and other diagnostic services. Ensure electronic filing and departmental staff e-rostering systems are kept up to date, book follow up appointments, develop and maintain departmental administration policies and procedures, contribute to data inputting, coordinate ordering of stationery items and managing stock levels and administration support to management team as well as reporting respiratory function investigations.
