Job summary

In August 2025, NHS England brought out the 10-point plan to improve the working lives of resident doctors. In line with this I was appointed to be the Resident Doctor Peer Lead to represent resident doctors within HIOWH Trust and work closely with the Chief Medical Officer Team. It has been an exciting opportunity to start embedding the 10 point plan within the trust and represent you all in making things better for all of us. As I approach starting work in a local consultant post in the summer, I would now like to support handing over the RDPL role to another resident.

We are therefore inviting Resident Doctors to provide an expression of interest for a 12-month fixed term post as the Resident Doctor Peer Lead (RDPL). There will also be a handover period where I can guide and support the future RDPL for the role.

Applicants will need to have agreement from their Educational Supervisor, Named Clinical Supervisor and the TPD. For more detail and context on the positions, please see the attached role description.

To express an interest, or if you would like to discuss the role, please email Dr Faiza Hussain or Dr Jeremy Rowland (Deputy CMO). The deadline for this is 15th May 2026.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is a newly established organisation, bringing together expertise from across mental health, learning disabilities, community, and physical health services. We are dedicated to delivering compassionate, high-quality, and accessible care to the diverse communities of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

With over 13,000 dedicated staff working across more than 300 sites, we place patients and staff at the centre of everything we do. By working together, we aim to improve patient outcomes, drive innovation, and meet the unique needs of the populations we serve.

Our Trust unites services from Southern Health, Solent NHS Trust, Isle of Wight NHS Trusts community and mental health teams, as well as Hampshire CAMHS, originally part of Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. This transformation enables us to deliver more seamless care across the region, ensuring that patients receive the right support, in the right place, at the right time.
