This is a whole-time post for a Resident Clinical Fellow offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Medic to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. This is a 12-month fixed term post rotating through 3 x 4 month placements in sub-specialities/ward areas (in a combination of Intermediate Care (Duffy Suite) / Sanderson Suite / emergency calls and cancer services based at St Helens Hospital.
Candidates must have evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies from a UKFPO affiliated Foundation Programme or equivalent by time of commencing post, in line with GMC standards / Good Medical Practice.
Applicants must be eligible for full Registration with the GMC at time of appointment.
Participate in the initial assessment and management of patients with the supervision of more experienced members of the team.
Liaise with other members of the clinical team and other specialties.
Advise FYP trainees and ANPs about management of patients.
Develop skills in managing the wards to avoid unnecessary patient delays and maintain good clinical care to all patients.
There will be an on-call/weekend commitment, joining the Tier 1 (Non-FY1) rota.
Duffy Suite Is a 28 bedded intermediate care unit located on the first floor of St Helens Hospital. The unit is able to facilitate admissions for 26 intermediate care patients and 2 surgical overnight beds. This unit provides rehabilitation for patients, who are medically fit to leave acute care, but may require more therapy or clinical input to help them return to their usual place of residence or non-hospital residence.

The unit offers a dedicated rehabilitation service for Merseyside residents. Offering regular goal setting meetings within the teams to discuss your progress and establish goals. We welcome the input of family and friends while planning and delivering care.
Patient with who live within the St Helens CCG or who are registered with a St Helens GP can be referred from the community for a bed in intermediate care via Contact Cares.
