Job overview

This is an exciting and unique opportunity for a skilled and dedicated specialist Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with evidence of post registration study in an evidence based psychological intervention (e.g., PG Dip Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) to join a research-focused, new clinical service designed to provide assessment, recommendations and treatment for people with complex mood disorders (“difficult to treat depression”) that have not responded to first-line treatments in either secondary or primary care settings.

As part of the multi-disciplinary team carrying out clinical procedures, you will contribute to the assessment and formulation of patients, alongside providing short-term evidence-based interventions under the supervision of the clinical lead.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating the care of service users carrying out assessment planning, implementation and evaluation of their care under the supervision of the line manager.
  • Assessment, formulation and providing short-term, evidence-based interventions under the supervision of the clinical lead.
  • Liaising with family members, carers and significant others when completing the assessment and developing a care plan.
  • Undertaking and supervising risk formulation and management plan for service users under your care, taking note of the contributions from other members of the team, family members, carers and significant others.
  • Participating in setting standards for care based on sound evidence based and research findings and participating in the systematic monitoring and evaluation of service users that you have responsibility for.
  • Giving and receiving accurate up-to-date information regarding service users’ care in reviews and multi-disciplinary meetings etc. These reviews may be external to the Trust.
