Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Nurse to join our gene therapy research nursing team within Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust (GOSH) working alongside the Immunology department. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual who is willing to learn and develop expertise in clinical research, on a full-time contract; part time candidates will be considered.

You will primarily work alongside the Senior Gene Therapy research nurses, providing support across the clinical trial’s portfolio. You will be based in GOSH/ZCR and will be expected to work flexibly, both within the gene therapy team and wider afield.

The post holder will join the gene therapy team.  The team is made up of clinicians, research nurses, project managers and translational scientists amongst others.  As a Band 6 Gene Therapy Research Nurse, you will take part in coordinating the delivery of active gene therapy clinical trials, working closely with sponsors and the project managers.  You will also work clinically within the team and promote high standards of both patient care and research practice.

Main duties of the job

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced paediatric nurse. You must have effective organizational skills and be looking for a new and exciting challenge. You should demonstrate the ability to manage your own workload and to work as part of a team. Previous early phase and IMP research experience is not essential for the post and a comprehensive training and development program will be available to the successful candidate.

The core working will be between the hours of 08.00-18.00. Some early evening, weekend and night working might be required at times. You will work across both the Blood Cells and Cancer & Research and Innovation Directorates.

We offer a friendly and supportive working environment with a strong commitment to personal professional development.
