Job overview

As a Research MR Practitioner, you will be responsible for conducting MR scans in line with defined protocols and regulatory requirements. You will be part of the RIO’s MR Core Lab and Implementation Team, supporting the clinical imaging trials and novel imaging research that is either underway or being set-up.    In this role, you will be trained to work as a specialist research MRI radiographer at the Philips Ingenia 3.0T Research MRI scanner, located at the MacMillan Cancer Centre. You will facilitate the research activities undertaken on the UCLH MRI scanners, collaborating with the clinical MRI radiographers, RIO Implementation team, and UCLH MRI Superintendents.

This is an exciting opportunity for a junior Radiographer looking to develop their skills in a research environment and learn from more senior MR Research Radiographers. The role will also incorporate aspects of research including informed consent.

Main duties of the job

  • Conducting MR scans in line with defined protocols and regulatory requirements •    Facilitate the research activities undertaken on the UCLH + UCL MRI scanners •    You will learn to perform a wide range of MRI procedures on phantoms, patients, and research volunteers. •    To set up new scanning protocols and sequences on MRI scanners for the new research scans •    Explain research projects and relevant documentation to patients and research volunteers and obtain consent from research participants. •    Ensure adherence to IGH GCP guidelines and the policies and procedures of UCLH
