The Position:
Maternity Support Workers provide care and support to women, babies and families throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period as part of the multidisciplinary team. Working under the supervision of registered midwives, you will also contribute to both clinical and clerical duties to support safe and effective maternity care.
The Candidate:
You will have previous experience in a support worker role within an NHS or social care setting and hold an SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent experience. You will be confident in providing information and supporting patients as they develop new skills, and be competent in undertaking maternal observations.
You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team while also using your own initiative. Standard keyboard skills are required to support administrative tasks.
You will be welcoming, approachable, kind and compassionate, with a clear understanding of the importance of confidentiality, and a commitment to ongoing personal development.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NHS Orkney.
