Gloucestershire Health and Care (GHC) are looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated individuals across the county who want to work with people in their communities. We can offer training, development opportunities, regular supervision and support.

The Reablement and Home First Team provide vital short-term services to people in their homes to help them regain as much independence as possible after a stay in hospital, an injury or illness. Duty’s for the success candidate may include supporting people with personal care, meal preparation, supporting with medication and supervising exercise programmes.

No previous experience in a paid/unpaid caring role is required but is an advantage. To be successful in this role you should:

  • Enjoy and have experience working with people;
  • understand what motivates people;
  • be comfortable being involved in practical, sometimes personal and intimate care provision for people;
  • have a desire to learn and develop skills;
  • able to work alone and in a team setting
  • have basic IT skills

If you are new to care and hold no experience in healthcare, then we offer a fantastic development opportunity with a structured development plan (including achieving the Care Certificate). You will progress from a pay band 2 to pay band 3 on achievement of the Care Certification.

Main duties of the job

We provide a 7day service between the hours of 07.00-22.00. There are Full-time & Part time roles available which operate on 4 days on, 4 days off schedule or 2 days on, 6 days off rolling rota.

The following shifts are currently highly sought after for this locality:

Am - 08.00-13:30 (4 on 4 off)

Pm - 17.00-22:00 (4 on 4 off)

Please note that this role is locality based visiting people and therefore it is essential that all applicants have a valid driving licence for the UK and access to a vehicle that they can use for work purposes

As a Health Care Assistant/ Support Worker you will be responsible for participating and assisting in the delivery of care / services to patients and service users as part of a Mental Health and Social Care Health Service. Health Care Assistant, Social Care Workers and other Healthcare Support Workers employed by the Trust are required to follow the guidance set out in Code of Conduct for Health Care Assistants/ Health Care Support Workers to provide safe and compassionate care of a  high standard, and to challenge others who are not.

You will receive direct supervision and partake in reflective practice / training on a regular basis and be required to meet the Care Certificate standards. All successful applicants will also have the opportunity to discuss the prospect of undertaking a Level 3 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship alongside their substantive post. This apprenticeship would include the Level 3 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare.
