This is an exciting time to join our Orthopaedic team working in the purpose built elective Hub. This consists of 2 theatres, 8 daycare pods and a 28 bedded in patient ward.

The in- patient ward was developed by teams including clinicians and involved patients groups, staff members and infection and prevention control. National and international research and best practice were also considered in its design. This has led to the development of an innovative environment using technology, with increased privacy and dignity for our patients due to the high number of side rooms.

Within the elective Hub we be carie for a variety of elective joint procedures, including total hip and knee replacements as well as orthopaedic day case procedures.

The elective orthopaedic department has a reputation as a high performing ward, having received  “good” ward accreditation, and a previous  Paget ward of the year, where patients are first and foremost at the centre of all our care delivery.

Main duties of the job

As the new Hub is purpose build for elective Orthopaedic procedures, your role will include the safe management of patient’s pre and post operatively. Working closely with members of the MDT in order to promote early mobilization, optimized analgesia and safe, early discharge home.

As a flexible employer we can offer part time and full time hours, with the requirement that unsocial and night shifts are covered.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • The post holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs and the  implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.
  • Ensure that agreed standards of nursing practice within the ward are maintained.
  • Ensure that all Trust and ward Health and Safety policies are adhered to.
  • Ensure that the Trusts Values and Behaviours are adhered to.
  • Maintain personal contact with patients, other health care disciplines, relatives and visitors
