Job overview

Come and make a difference and join our dedicated nursing team on the Medlock Unit, based in the brand new Dyson Cancer Centre at the RUH. We are looking for a kind, caring and motivated nurse to join our passionate and highly skilled multi-professional team, with a genuine interest to develop or enhance competency in Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT).

Within our Medlock Unit we offer opportunities to broaden your skills and knowledge in supporting patients who are receiving SACT and/ or supportive treatments in an acute cancer setting. You will receive an individualised induction programme incorporating visits to adjacent areas within the department. This will be followed by completion of the SACT Competency Passport within six months.

Once established in post, planning your career direction is considered very much part of your development. There are Cancer Care qualifications available to suit both your individual professional progression as well as that of the service.

Our service is expanding into the community and the role will include working at Frome Community Hospital as required.

Staff will travel from the RUH to the Satellite unit at Frome Medical Practice, using a Trust fleet car. Travel time will be paid, ensuring fairness and protecting work life balance. Staff without driving licences will still be able to participate, supporting inclusivity and enabling flexible cover for last-minute sickness

Main duties of the job

As a team we aspire to be compassionate, supportive, personal and open; patient and family experience is central to everything we do. Therefore, together with solid clinical and technical skills, we expect a deep awareness of the special needs of our patients, along with the ability to support and care for them and their families throughout their treatment. You will be key to ensuring that patients and their families receive good quality care and ensure that their cancer journey is positively influenced.

Informal visits are encouraged. Please contact Heather Sanchez, Hayley Beer Senior Sisters 01225 824852 Monday- Friday.

In order to be considered for this role, you need to hold a valid U.K NMC registration.
