Job overview

Opportunity to be part of the newly created Community Diagnostic Centre delivery team based in the city centre. The post holder will provide a welcoming and efficient reception service for all visitors, patients, and staff entering the department. They will ensure the reception area is professionally maintained, support communication with a wide range of stakeholders, and assist the bookings team when required.

Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.

Main duties of the job

  • Greet all visitors and patients entering the department, providing an efficient and professional reception service.
  • Ensure a Receptionist is present and available in the reception area whenever possible.
  • Maintain the overall quality, cleanliness, and professional appearance of the reception area.
  • Receive and process all incoming post promptly, and ensure all outgoing post is handled in the same timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with trainees, clinicians, managers, patients, colleagues, and external agencies.
  • Support the bookings team, including assisting with patient appointment bookings.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To greet all visitors/patients who enter the department and approach the Reception  Desk. Providing an efficient service, including the reception of, staff, patients, and  visitors to the department.    • To ensure as far as possible, that the Receptionist is always available in the  reception area.   • To be responsible for the general quality and appearance of the reception area.   • To receive all incoming post and process in a timely manner, and ensure all  outgoing post is similarly processed.   • Communication with stakeholders including trainees, clinicians, managers,  patients, other colleagues, and workers from other agencies.   • To assist within the bookings team and book patients.
