ARE YOU a highly motivated, organised and flexible receptionist?   If so, we are looking for a full-time Band 2 Receptionist to be based at the St Albans Health and Wellbeing Centre

We are seeking an experienced and motivated receptionist to work Monday – Friday, 9-5pm.

The receptionist is the first point of contact for all patients and visitors to this busy centre.

Main duties of the job

Applicants must have good organisational skills, a range of office skills and experience in working in reception/administration.   Excellent customer service skills are essential, as you will have both face to face and telephone contact with service users on a daily basis.  Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, a friendly approach and being enthusiastic are all required for this post.  A knowledge of SystmOne would be an advantage but not essential as training will be provided.

Part of this role will require the successful applicant to be flexible to provide receptionist cover for holiday/sickness when required, this will involve travelling to other centres within the locality. A full valid driving licence and access to a car to use regularly for business purposes is essential (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

In addition to the basic salary, this post attracts a High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of basic salary subject to a minimum payment of £1,192  per annum pro rata.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To meet and greet all visitors/patients face to face at the centre, ensuring visitors and staff complete the signing in/out book.
  • To deal with telephone enquiries
  • To ensure that all visitors/clients are dealt with in a professional and helpful manner
  • To be the first point of contact for the day-to-day administration of facilities operations
  • Manage the daily reporting of maintenance jobs
  • Be responsible for the security, appearance and general tidiness of reception including ensuring leaflets and posters around the centre are up to date and relevant to the service
  • Undertake other duties that may occur from time to time as directed by senior management
  • To manage room bookings, ensuring that the computerised system is updated and all clinical space is used as effectively as possible
  • To manage all incoming and outgoing post, liaising with courier drivers and other departmental staff as required
  • Maintain and update any contact details and instructions at the front desk.
  • To be prepared to work at other Trust sites in an emergency and cover annual leave.
  • Direct all patients and visitors to the correct waiting area, to deal with any incidents in the waiting/reception area (including the cleaning of spillages) and to keep the area tidy
  • Be responsible for monitoring stationery, stock and non-stock supplies and equipment
  • To record and receipt of supplies and manage rotation of stock orders
