An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our small & friendly team at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills to work as a Receptionist/ admin for the Cardiac Physiology Service. The service is based across the Cardiology Suite and the Cardiac Device Suite on A Level at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust.

You will be an integral member of the Cardiac Physiology team, working autonomously within the reception areas and providing admin support to Cardiac Physiologists. Candidates should have experience working in a clerical role, possess a professional attitude and be able to work flexibly in a busy environment. You will ideally have experience of working in a hospital reception environment and be familiar with administrative processes and practices. You will be required to work as part of a team as well as being able to use your initiative and prioritise your workload to meet deadlines. Good computer skills and qualifications to NVQ Level 2/ RSA2/OCR2 are expected. Main duties of the job

  • Performing general reception duties as necessary
  • Close contact and co-operation with colleagues, patients and members of the public
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of the departmental appointment system
  • Explanation (non-clinical) about procedure types and booking arrangements for procedures undertaken by the Cardiac Physiology teams, to medical staff, nursing staff, clerical staff and patients
  • Organisation of appointment and transport / portering arrangements for in- patient and outpatients, liaising with other departmental staff as necessary
  • Dealing with general telephone and face to face enquiries from patients and their relatives, including relaying difficult information relating to waiting times for investigations and clinics
  • Organisation of appointments for patients requiring cardiac investigations, e.g. RACPC, Echocardiography, 24 Hour Monitoring, Cardiac Device Follow-Up etc, ensuring cancelled appointment are re-appointed and that all available appointments are back-filled
  • Arranging outpatient follow-up appointments as appropriate
  • Directs urgent referrals or queries to healthcare professionals
  • Provides specialist administrative support to all Cardiac Physiology Services in both the Cardiology Suite and Cardiac Device Suite
  • Pulling and filing Device Records for patients attending Cardiac Device Clinics
  • Liaising with Cardiology staff at other hospitals to obtain reports
  • Scanning reports into the electronic Cardiac Device Database
