An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and organised Receptionist to join our busy Trauma and Orthopaedics team at NNUH.
You will be responsible for checking patients in at the desk, managing appointments, maintaining accurate patient records, handling telephone and email enquiries, and providing general administrative support to the department. The role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment.
We are looking for someone with previous administrative experience, strong IT skills, and a compassionate, patient-focused approach. Experience within the NHS or a clinical setting would be advantageous.

The post holder will provide a professional, efficient, and patient-focused reception and administrative service within the Trauma and Orthopaedics department of a large acute NHS Trust. As the first point of contact for patients, relatives, and visitors, the receptionist plays a key role in ensuring a welcoming environment while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of clinics and services.
Key responsibilities include greeting and booking in patients for outpatient clinics, managing appointment systems, handling telephone and face-to-face enquiries, and maintaining accurate patient records using Trust IT systems. The post holder will work closely with clinicians, nursing staff, and administrative colleagues to ensure clinics run efficiently, including preparing clinic lists, tracking patient flow, and escalating any delays or issues appropriately.
The role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm and professional in a busy and sometimes challenging environment. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise workload are essential. The post holder must demonstrate a commitment to patient confidentiality, data accuracy, and high standards of customer care, in line with NHS values.
