Main duties of the job

As a Radiology Department Assistant, you will provide vital clinical and administrative support to ensure the department runs safely and efficiently. Your main duties will include:

  • Clinical Support & Observations: Perform a range of essential clinical tasks, including cannulation for CT and MR scans, producing high-quality 12-lead ECGs, and monitoring patient vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation.
  • Direct Patient Care: Prepare and escort patients for procedures, assisting them on and off examination tables while prioritising their comfort, dignity, and cultural needs.
  • Safety & Infection Control: Maintain a sterile and safe environment by assisting with the rigorous cleaning of scanners and adhering to strict infection control measures.
  • Communication & Documentation: Act as a key point of contact for patients--listening to concerns and providing reassurance--while utilising departmental IT systems like CRIS to accurately record physiological data and manage patient information.
  • Professionalism: Maintain strict confidentiality and professional attitude at all times, ensuring every individual is treated with the utmost courtesy and respect.
