We are recruiting for a Radiography Assistant who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients. The role is patient-focused, service-driven and requires flexibility. You will ensure patients are made comfortable in waiting areas as well as dealing with their emotional needs by communicating with sensitivity and understanding. You will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to support the provision of a high quality imaging service. The main components of the job will be scheduling appointments for the different types of scans carried out in the Centre: CT, MRI and PET/CT. The role will also include some reception duties. In addition, you will receive a High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of your basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £4,552 and a maximum payment of £5,735 per annum pro rata. Main duties of the job
Reception Admin Duties:
- Welcoming patients and visitors into the department
- Checking and amending patient details onto the department computer system (RIS)
- Liaising with porters and ward staff regarding in-patient preparation and transport
- Liaising with the hospital transport office to ensure patients’ hospital transport is arranged for their return journeys
- Monitoring usage and re-ordering of supplies
- Taking payment for various small items on sale and handling donations for the fund-raising department
- Ensuring paying patients complete relevant forms and entering details correctly onto the computerised record system
- Retrieving patient referral forms and any relevant blood test results as part of preparation for scanning sessions
Appointment scheduling:
- Entering patient appointment dates and times, referral details, and any other relevant information regarding the appointment onto the computerised system
- Ensuring that patients are notified of the date and time of their appointment and where appropriate, transport arrangements are made. Sending appointment letters and information leaflets
- Liaising with porters and ward staff regarding in-patient appointments and preparation
- Providing a service to patients and referrers wishing to expedite, reschedule or cancel appointments
- Communicating effectively with the radiographers regarding any problems, complaints, or service issues
