The Derby/Burton Breast Unit is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Imaging Department Assistant to join the Breast Service hosted by  UHDB(United Hospitals of Derby and Burton) to work across all sites.

We are a progressive forward thinking department who has a positive approach at meeting and delivering the current challenges of the NHS. You would join a team of Breast Service staff and Radiographers to provide symptomatic clinics and a screening service as part of the NBSS (National Breast Screening Service) covering South East Staffordshire and Southern Derbyshire.

  • Assist with the running of clinics ensuring patients flow through the clinics in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Provide chaperone duties for clinical examinations.
  • Assist clinicians when they are performing biopsies, ultrasound, drainages and other procedures as required.
  • Ensure clinic paperwork is has been correctly filled in and filed in the patient record.
  • Ensure clinic rooms are correctly stocked.
  • Supporting community breast pain service at various community locations.

Main duties of the job

The Radiographic Assistant role is at the foundation of our ability to make the difference to our patients. Importantly they provide the cement that binds our Imaging Services together, across our dynamic and expanding department. They are often the first point of contact for our patients, this may be face to face or by telephone. Good communication skills are essential.

The successful candidate will work alongside our multi-professional team assisting in clinics and providing support in clinic for our diagnostic and surgical consultants in ultrasound and clinical outpatient rooms.

Supporting our national award winning Breast Pain service in the community.
