The role will include rotation through ED, theatre, mobiles and fluoroscopy, working across  our busy main acute site,  as well  smaller community sites.

We have an excellent preceptorship and induction program to support your integration into the department.

Main duties of the job

This is a demanding role where excellent technical expertise in all aspects is required to ensure the delivery of a high quality, efficient and professional service. The successful candidates will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, performing radiographic examinations either single handed or as part of a team, whilst ensuring a high standard of radiographic technique and patient care is maintained at all times.

You will gain experience of working in a busy acute hospital in addition to working in our community hospitals where the pace may sometimes be slower but equally challenging.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

1. To perform a broad range of x-ray examinations on patients commensurate with a high level of radiographic skill.

2. To undertake the autonomous evaluation of plain film images for diagnostic suitability.

3. Ensure a high standard of patient care, both clinical and pastoral commensurate with good practice, ensuring all aspects of the service are delivered within the departments defined quality standards.

4. To maintain and promote a high quality patient focussed service.

5. To review images and ensure that supplementary imaging procedures/views are considered prior to the patient departure from the department.

6. To participate in the departments 24 hour, 7 day a week shift system which will include weekend, Bank Holiday and night shifts.

7. Comply with the Ionising Radiation Regulation 2017, (IRR 17) and the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017, (IRMER 2017) ensuring radiation doses are kept as low as reasonable achievable in line with Diagnostic Reference Levels (DRL).

8. Ensure general cleanliness and tidiness of all clinical areas including cleaning and disposal of clinical and hazardous waste.

9. Awareness of Health and Safety precautions in respect of staff, patients and visitors.

10. To participate in the Quality Assurance Programme and take part in departmental audit.
